In this role, you will oversee the full project lifecycle, from early planning and design through construction, commissioning, and final closeout. You will work closely with government clients, design consultants, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality facilities on time and within budget. You will also build trusted client relationships, guide project teams, and proactively resolve challenges throughout delivery. This is an opportunity to make a tangible community impact by helping deliver critical public infrastructure in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Lead end-to-end project delivery: Manage complex construction projects from planning and design through construction, completion, and closeout, ensuring approved scope, budget, schedule, and quality objectives are achieved. Oversee project controls: Manage estimates, schedules, budgets, cost forecasts, cash flow projections, financial reporting, and project performance throughout the project lifecycle. Manage contracts and documentation: Oversee requests for information (RFIs), contract document control, change order reviews, payment applications, project records, and reporting requirements. Ensure regulatory compliance: Confirm that required project authorizations and funding are in place, secure applicable jurisdictional approvals, and ensure compliance with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations. Manage procurement and consultant selection: Develop scopes of work, solicit and evaluate proposals, assess qualifications and references, conduct interviews, negotiate fees and services, and oversee consultant and contractor performance. Coordinate multidisciplinary teams: Lead and coordinate design professionals, specialty consultants, construction inspectors, contractors, planners, maintenance and operations personnel, and project support staff. Build strong client relationships: Work closely with public-sector client representatives, maintain consistent communication, and provide clear updates on progress, financial performance, risks, and decisions. Manage risk and resolve issues: Identify potential challenges that could affect project outcomes, evaluate alternatives, and implement proactive solutions to protect project objectives. Maintain project quality and closeout standards: Monitor quality assurance throughout delivery, ensure timely completion of punch lists, manage project closeout activities, and support warranty compliance where needed. Maintain accurate project information: Keep project management systems, records, documentation, and reports current to support accountability, transparency, and informed decision-making. Lead and develop people: Provide direction to project teams, mentor staff, encourage collaboration, and establish clear expectations for performance and delivery. Support internal controls: Fulfill applicable Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control responsibilities where required. Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Professional experience: At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing construction projects, including multimillion-dollar capital projects and independent decision-making responsibilities. Public-sector project experience: Experience working with city, county, or government facilities in Washington State, preferably on fire stations or other public safety facilities within the past five years. Positive client references are preferred. Full lifecycle project management: Demonstrated success managing complex capital projects across planning, design, construction, and closeout. Project controls expertise: Strong knowledge of estimating, scheduling, cost control, forecasting, cash flow management, change management, financial reporting, and quality assurance. Design and construction administration: Experience managing architecture and engineering (A/E) consultant services and construction administration. Procurement and contract management: Proven ability to develop scopes of work, evaluate consultants and contractors, negotiate fees and services, administer contracts, and manage performance. Regulatory and technical knowledge: Strong understanding of applicable building codes, industry standards, jurisdictional approvals, and public-sector project requirements. Project documentation systems: Proficiency with project controls, document management platforms, automated project management systems, reporting tools, and maintaining accurate project records. Leadership and team coordination: Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor colleagues, coordinate stakeholders, and manage multiple projects independently. Client relationship management: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of building lasting professional relationships and securing strong references. Problem-solving and adaptability: Proactive approach to identifying risks, evaluating alternatives, making sound decisions, and managing competing priorities with attention to detail. Certifications: Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA) certifications, or the ability to obtain them within 90 days. Collaborative mindset: Ability to take initiative, work effectively across teams, and balance independent ownership with constructive collaboration. Work arrangement: Willingness to meet on-site attendance requirements, which may change depending on client needs. Benefits: Annual base salary: $130,000–$160,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and role-related factors. Supportive work environment: A culture that encourages employee contributions, professional growth, and opportunities to influence meaningful projects. Work-life balance: A commitment to a healthy, productive, and flexible working environment that respects employees' lives outside work. Meaningful project impact: Opportunities to help deliver essential public infrastructure and facilities that serve local communities.
