Full job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Proposal Writer based in the United States. We are seeking an experienced Senior Proposal Writer to develop compelling, technically accurate, and customer-focused proposals supporting next-generation unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and aerospace solutions. In this role, you will transform complex engineering, operational, and program information into persuasive narratives that strengthen competitive bids and support strategic business growth. You will collaborate with technical experts, program managers, business development teams, and executive leadership to align proposal content with customer priorities and evaluation criteria. From analyzing federal solicitations to coordinating proposal reviews and refining win strategies, you will help ensure every submission is compliant, clear, and competitive. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is motivated by innovation across aerospace and defense technology.

Plan, write, edit, and maintain high-quality proposals for aerospace systems, unmanned aircraft platforms, and related products. Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), Broad Agency Announcements (BAAs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and evaluation criteria to identify submission requirements and compliance obligations. Partner with Capture Managers to understand customer priorities, develop win themes, identify competitive differentiators, and strengthen proposal messaging. Collaborate with Technical Program Managers, business development professionals, engineers, contracts, finance, manufacturing, quality, technical writing teams, and executive leadership to develop integrated proposal narratives. Interview subject matter experts to gather information on technical solutions, management approaches, manufacturing, logistics, quality assurance, cybersecurity, and program execution. Develop and refine technical, management, executive summary, past performance, staffing, quality, manufacturing, and transition plan sections. Ensure all proposal materials comply with solicitation instructions, page limits, formatting standards, and evaluation requirements. Create proposal outlines, storyboards, content plans, and annotated templates that support an efficient and consistent development process. Develop or coordinate illustrations, diagrams, and other visual materials that clarify complex aerospace systems, processes, and workflows. Participate in structured proposal reviews, including Pink Team, Red Team, Gold Team, and final quality reviews, incorporating feedback and managing revisions throughout the proposal lifecycle. Maintain proposal content libraries, reusable narratives, resumes, past performance examples, and corporate capability statements. Safeguard proprietary, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), export-controlled, and competition-sensitive information. Identify opportunities to improve proposal development practices, documentation standards, and collaboration workflows as business needs evolve. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Journalism, Communications, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline. Five to seven years of professional proposal writing experience, including experience supporting the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing industries. Demonstrated success developing persuasive, competitive proposals, with the ability to communicate technical and operational concepts clearly to varied audiences. Strong understanding of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), federal procurement practices, and competitive proposal development processes. Exceptional writing, editing, interviewing, and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing polished, compliant submissions. Excellent organizational and project coordination skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, coordinate stakeholder contributions, and meet demanding deadlines. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat. U.S. citizenship is required. Experience supporting proposals valued at $10 million or more is preferred. Familiarity with Microsoft Project or other scheduling tools, particularly in support of complex programs, is an advantage. Experience supporting major defense acquisition programs and knowledge of aerospace manufacturing, systems engineering, avionics, software development, logistics, cybersecurity, or sustainment is desirable. Familiarity with the Shipley proposal development methodology or comparable proposal best practices is preferred. Experience using proposal collaboration platforms such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, or proposal automation tools is beneficial. APMP Foundation, Practitioner, or Professional certification is an advantage. An active U.S. security clearance, or the ability to obtain one, is preferred. Benefits: Annual salary range: $85,000–$150,000 USD, depending on level and qualifications. Level III: $85,000–$123,000. Level IV: $123,000–$150,000. Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and additional benefit options. Retirement savings: 401(k) plan with company matching contributions. Paid time off: Three weeks of paid time off annually. Sick leave: 40 hours of sick time. Company holidays: 12 paid company holidays per year. Innovative work environment: Contribute to the development of advanced unmanned aircraft systems and emerging aerospace and defense technologies. Collaborative culture: Work alongside multidisciplinary professionals focused on solving complex technical challenges.
