Ongoing, full time position based in Melbourne's northern suburbs earning $97,429 to $109,593 per year, plus superannuationProvide sound, quality advice to the courts relating to criminal proceedings of young peopleHelp promote contribute to the rehabilitation of individuals leading to greater community safetyWhat you will doAs a Youth Justice Court Advice Worker provides expert advice to courts, other professionals, services and young people and their families, in relation to criminal proceedings involving young people. The Youth Justice Court Advice Worker forms part of the Youth Justice Court Advice Service (YJCAS) representing Youth Justice, provide advice to the court and stakeholders, and delivering assessments and interventions when required.This role will require in-person presence at any Courts requiring Youth Justice representation. The role also provides operational support on Court advice matters to regional Youth Justice teams as needed.You will:Provide timely written and verbal advice to the Court, ensuring all advice is accurate and aligned with legislation and Youth Justice policy.Support clients with complex needs by providing holistic and comprehensive services to increase their opportunities of enhanced quality of life, community inclusion and rehabilitative prospects. This includes case management, undertaking complex assessments, writing reports, leading a care team, implementing and reviewing plans and goal setting, monitoring progress, advocacy, referrals and other activities as required.Communicate respectfully with young people and their families, clearly explaining court processes, legislation, departmental policies and procedures, using trauma-informed and culturally safe practices.About youYou should hold a relevant qualification in social work, youth work, psychology, human services, criminology or criminal justice.
