Job Title: Adult Community Speech and Language TherapistBanding: Band 6/7Location: West MidlandsStart Date: ASAPSalary: £24.00–£32.00 per hourWorking Hours: Full-time / Part-time

Job Overview

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Adult Community Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a community-based service across the West Midlands. This role involves working with adults in community care settings, including care homes and patients’ own homes, supporting individuals with a range of speech, language, and swallowing difficulties.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Band 6 or Band 7 therapist with dysphagia competencies who is confident working independently in the community. You will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care, helping patients maintain safety, independence, and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders (including dysphagia).• Deliver evidence-based interventions within community settings such as care homes and service users’ own homes.• Manage a varied caseload independently, prioritising clinical need effectively.• Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals, carers, and family members.• Provide training and guidance to carers and support staff on communication strategies and safe swallowing practices.• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).• HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).• Proven experience working with adults in a community setting.• Dysphagia training and demonstrated competency in managing swallowing disorders.• Strong clinical reasoning skills and the ability to work independently.• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
