SUMMARY The Director, People Operations leads the strategy, design, and continuous improvement of the People Team’s operational foundation: support center, HR systems, people data and reporting, policy, process, and employment compliance. Reporting to the SVP, People, and serving as a trusted advisor to the leadership team, this leader builds scalable, compliant, and efficient people programs that deliver a consistent, high-quality experience for team members and managers across our multi-state footprint.

The Director leads the People Team Operations function, including the support center, and partners closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, IT, Operations, and external vendors to ensure our programs are market competitive, financially responsible, operationally efficient, and aligned with business priorities. We are looking for a Passionate, Results-Motivated leader who moves fast, challenges the status quo with courage, and brings an owner mindset to every system, process, and dollar the People Team touches.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES HR Operations & Service Delivery • Lead the People Team Operations function, including the support center and ticketing system, setting service standards, workflows, and documentation that deliver timely, accurate, and empathetic support to team members and managers. • Own the design and governance of employee lifecycle change processes, including new hires, terminations, and data changes, ensuring accuracy, strong controls, and a seamless experience. • Drive continuous improvement by identifying, piloting, and scaling process and automation enhancements that reduce manual work, strengthen controls, and improve data accuracy, using a test-and-learn approach and monthly sprints to deliver progress with urgency.

Systems, Data & Analytics

Own the HRIS strategy and roadmap, including optimization, data integrity and governance, automation, and self service functionality, partnering with HR, IT, Finance, and vendors to realize the full capability of our systems. • Establish and maintain HR dashboards, operational metrics, and define the KPIs that connect people programs to measurable outcomes, including workforce trends, program effectiveness, cost drivers, compliance risk, and service levels. • Translate data into insight and present clear, actionable recommendations to executive leaders, taking ownership of results and recommending course corrections when the numbers call for them.

Compliance, Policy & Risk • Build and lead the HR compliance program in partnership with HR leaders, Legal, and external advisors, covering employment, compensation, benefits, leave, recordkeeping, reporting, and privacy requirements across federal, state, and local jurisdictions. • Own the policy framework, ensuring all policies are current, compliant, consistently applied, and clearly communicated, and monitor regulatory changes, industry trends, and emerging technology to recommend proactive updates. • Manage vendor, broker, consultant, carrier, and system partner relationships, including contracts, performance expectations, service quality, and cost effectiveness. • Govern HR programs to ensure cost effectiveness, market competitiveness, and internal equity across the organization.

Leadership & Partnership • Serve as a trusted advisor to the SVP, People and the leadership team on HR operations, people data, systems, compliance, and team member experience, offering candid, data-informed counsel and engaging in bold conversations when risk or opportunity requires it. • Lead, coach, and develop the People Operations team, setting clear priorities, service standards, and accountability, building career growth paths, and celebrating team wins both large and small. • Partner with HR Business Partners and business leaders to support organizational change, policy interpretation, and benefits questions, serving as an agent of change and steward of culture in all transformational initiatives. • Equip managers with practical guidance, training, and tools that translate complex operations topics into consistent practice, including strengthening performance management processes and a culture of consistent feedback. • Model all seven of our Cultural Pillars through confidential, ethical, inclusive, collaborative, and service-oriented leadership.

REQUIRED SKILLS • Strategic and operational leadership, with the ability to translate business priorities into scalable HR operations, systems, and service models • Deep expertise in HRIS and HR technology, including workflow design, automation, reporting, and data governance • Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret data, identify trends, build reports, model costs, and present recommendations to executive leaders • Proven project and change management skills, with a record of driving cross-functional initiatives to completion with tenacity and resourcefulness • Consulting and influencing skills, with the courage to challenge the status quo and influence in all directions • Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local employment laws, with the ability to interpret regulations and advise leaders accordingly • Business acumen and the ability to understand key business drivers within a multi-state, multi-location operating model • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex topics for managers and team members • Excellent interpersonal and service skills, with a genuine commitment to the team member and manager experience • Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with a bias for action and a proven ability to meet deadlines • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching and developing a team to raise capability and create opportunity for career growth
