The appointment is planned to begin on 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible on a two-year fixed-term basis, with possible renewal subject to satisfactory performance. Responsibilities include curriculum development, interdisciplinary teaching, student-project supervision, academic advising, admissions and outreach, external and internal liaison, and committee and administrative duties. HKU states that the package includes a competitive salary, annual leave and medical benefits, with contract-end gratuity and University retirement contribution totalling up to 15% of basic salary; housing benefits apply to Senior Lecturer appointments where applicable.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Science, Engineering or a related discipline and demonstrate capacity to make high-quality contributions to higher education. HKU seeks strong communication, interpersonal and organisational skills and enthusiasm for interdisciplinary education. Experience collaborating with local or overseas secondary schools is an advantage. Candidates with more than five years of tertiary-level teaching or equivalent professional teaching experience plus strong pedagogical and curriculum leadership may be considered for Senior Lecturer.
