Full job description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Engineer / Product Operations Engineer based in India. As a QA Engineer / Product Operations Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and usability of an innovative digital marketplace powered by artificial intelligence and additive manufacturing technologies. You will combine software testing, product analytics, operational monitoring, and light engineering to improve platform performance and customer experience. Working across customer and supplier applications, you will validate critical workflows, investigate technical issues, and identify opportunities to optimize product functionality. You will also analyze user behavior, build dashboards, and transform product data into actionable insights that support informed decisions. The role offers the opportunity to explore the intersection of software engineering, AI-driven manufacturing, and 3D printing while collaborating closely with technical and product teams. If you enjoy solving problems, working across disciplines, and taking ownership in a fast-paced startup environment, this remote opportunity offers a chance to make a tangible impact on a growing technology platform.
Product Quality Assurance and Testing Test customer-facing and supplier-facing web applications across essential workflows, including registration, authentication, part uploads, file processing, printability analysis, supplier matching, requests for quotation (RFQs), quote submissions, and order management. Create, maintain, and execute QA checklists, test cases, regression test plans, and validation procedures. Test applications across different browsers, devices, file formats, and edge cases to identify potential usability and functionality issues. Identify, reproduce, document, and prioritize software defects, clearly outlining expected versus actual behavior. Verify bug fixes before release and help maintain product quality as new features are introduced. Application Monitoring and Reliability Monitor production applications to ensure critical workflows remain operational and perform as expected. Identify failed file uploads, broken pages, API errors, background job failures, and unusual user activity. Investigate incidents, document findings, escalate critical issues, and collaborate with engineers on root-cause analysis. Help maintain platform availability and customer confidence by identifying issues before they significantly affect users. Develop or maintain internal dashboards, alerts, and monitoring tools to track product health and system reliability. 3D Printability Review and Manufacturing Support Review customer-uploaded CAD files, technical drawings, PDFs, and part metadata to assess their suitability for additive manufacturing. Evaluate potential printability risks related to geometry, material selection, dimensions, tolerances, wall thickness, unsupported features, overhangs, small holes, warping, and file quality. Collaborate with engineering teams and manufacturing specialists to improve printability scoring systems and analysis workflows. Develop internal review checklists and part-classification processes to support consistent and reliable assessments. Compare automated printability analysis results with human evaluations, identify discrepancies, and recommend improvements to the underlying workflows. Customer Behavior and Product Insights Analyze platform usage patterns to understand how customers interact with the product and complete key workflows. Identify onboarding challenges, abandoned processes, unsuccessful uploads, and points where users fail to complete RFQs or other important actions. Review customer feedback, support tickets, uploaded part data, and usage trends to uncover recurring issues and improvement opportunities. Translate observations into actionable bug reports, product recommendations, and clear technical requirements. Help product and engineering teams understand customer needs and distinguish actual user behavior from expected application behavior. Analytics and Reporting Build and maintain dashboards that track product usage, customer activity, part uploads, RFQs, supplier responses, conversion funnels, and system errors. Monitor key performance indicators, including user registrations, active users, upload success and failure rates, file types, printability analysis completion, RFQs submitted, supplier response rates, and customer drop-off points. Use analytics and reporting tools such as Google Analytics, PostHog, Mixpanel, Metabase, Looker Studio, Supabase, SQL, or comparable platforms. Prepare regular product quality and usage reports that help teams monitor performance and prioritize improvements. Translate data into clear, actionable insights that support product decisions and operational efficiency. Bug Fixing and Light Engineering Investigate defects across frontend applications, backend services, APIs, databases, and third-party integrations. Implement small code fixes independently where appropriate and collaborate with engineers to resolve more complex issues. Improve error handling, application logging, input validation, and user-facing error messages. Review code changes from a quality assurance, usability, and product reliability perspective. Contribute to internal tools, scripts, dashboards, and test automation to improve operational efficiency. Collaborate through version control, code reviews, pull requests, and deployment workflows. Requirements: 2–5 years of professional experience in quality assurance, software testing, technical support engineering, product operations, analytics, software development, or a related field. Strong experience testing web applications, validating user workflows, identifying edge cases, and documenting reproducible software defects. Basic full-stack development skills, ideally involving TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js, SQL, and REST APIs. Ability to read and understand application code, debug technical issues, and implement small code fixes independently. Familiarity with browser developer tools, application logs, network requests, API debugging, and database investigation. Experience with product analytics and reporting tools such as Google Analytics, PostHog, Mixpanel, Metabase, Looker Studio, Supabase, or SQL-based dashboards. Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify inconsistencies, unusual behavior, and potential failure scenarios. Understanding of software testing practices, regression testing, defect tracking, and release validation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate issues systematically and recommend practical solutions. Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear bug reports, technical documentation, and product quality summaries. Ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and escalate technical issues promptly and effectively. Comfort working in a fast-paced startup environment where responsibilities span testing, analytics, technical investigation, and product operations. Enthusiasm for learning additive manufacturing and 3D printing technologies; prior professional experience in this domain is not mandatory. Additional 3D printing and manufacturing knowledge that would be advantageous: Familiarity with CAD and technical drawing formats such as STEP, STL, 3MF, IGES, DXF, DWG, and PDF. Basic understanding of additive manufacturing processes, including FDM, SLS, MJF, SLA, and metal 3D printing. Ability to interpret mechanical components, engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications. Exposure to slicer software, CAD viewers, mesh repair tools, or 3D printing workflows. Interest in manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, industrial components, or physical product development. Additional skills that would be a plus: Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or Jest. Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and error-tracking tools such as Sentry, Datadog, LogRocket, or New Relic. Experience with cloud platforms and deployment environments such as AWS, Azure, Render, Vercel, or Supabase. Knowledge of GitHub, pull requests, CI/CD pipelines, and software release workflows. Experience in CAD, mechanical engineering, 3D printing, manufacturing software, or related technical domains. Strong SQL skills and experience building operational or product analytics dashboards. Previous experience in a startup or small engineering team with broad responsibilities and rapidly evolving priorities. Benefits: Fully remote work arrangement , offering the flexibility to work from India. Full-time employment with the opportunity to contribute to an innovative AI-powered manufacturing marketplace. Exposure to emerging technologies at the intersection of software engineering, artificial intelligence, product analytics, and additive manufacturing. Opportunities to develop a diverse skill set across QA testing, product operations, application monitoring, analytics, and light software development. Hands-on experience with modern development frameworks, cloud platforms, monitoring tools, and product analytics technologies. Opportunities to influence product quality, customer experience, and engineering priorities through actionable insights. Exposure to practical 3D printing and manufacturing workflows, including CAD file processing, printability analysis, and supplier matching. A dynamic, fast-moving environment that encourages initiative, independent problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration. Opportunities to contribute directly to product improvements and help shape processes as the platform evolves.
