National University of Vanuatu Opportunities

The position is approximately 50% teaching/course development, 30% research and 20% administration. Research duties include leading field or laboratory marine-science projects in Vanuatu and the Pacific, producing publications, supporting applications for external research grants and supervising student research. Teaching areas include fisheries, aquaculture, marine biology and ecology, coastal management, marine economics, blue economy, climate impacts, biodiversity and marine GIS.

PhD in Marine Studies, Fisheries, Marine Science or a closely related discipline; at least 10 years of experience or knowledge in marine studies or a related field in Vanuatu or a developing-country context; tertiary teaching experience; demonstrated scholarly research; and programme-coordination capability. English and French are assets and Bislama is advantageous. The successful candidate must meet Vanuatu immigration requirements and work full time in Port Vila.
