WHO internships are full-time placements lasting from six to 24 consecutive weeks, with the exact location, technical area, dates and deadline specified in each vacancy notice. WHO provides medical and accident insurance during the placement. Eligible selected interns who need financial support may receive a living allowance, while lunch vouchers or travel support may apply at some duty stations according to the individual vacancy and programme rules.

Applicants must be at least 20 years old, hold a passport from a WHO Member State, have completed at least three years of full-time university study before the internship starts, and be enrolled in an eligible degree or have completed a qualification within the preceding 18 months. Candidates must be fluent in at least one working language of the assignment office, must not be a close relative of a WHO staff member, and must not have previously completed a WHO internship. Each vacancy may impose additional academic, technical and language requirements.
